The meeting focused on regulating the roles of those Government entities concerned with the administration of the resolution.
The draft resolution sets out the objectives of establishing the Dubai Municipality markets, namely to: contribute to furthering economic development in the Emirate; contribute to food safety; protect public health and safety; secure a strategic reserve of important goods and commodities in the Emirate; contribute to the protection of consumers against overpricing, fraud, and monopolies; regulate trading in some goods and commodities by establishing markets specifically for them; contribute to the support of low-income UAE nationals, and charitable foundations and organisations in the Emirate and encourage them to conduct economic activities and commerce by offering them real property in markets where rents are reasonable; control the architectural style of public markets in accordance with the architectural style of each district; and meet the needs of consumers regardless of social, cultural, and economic background.
The draft resolution sets out the functions and powers required in order that the Dubai Municipality can best achieve their objectives.
